Doggies of the West to delight too

CAVE CREEK – Historical will meet hysterical when Dr. Buck’s Wild West Comedy Gunfight & Stunt Show take the stage during the upcoming Wild West Days.

Dr. Buck and his world-class group of Western entertainers will bring Hollywood and history together with blazing six guns, punches and a few good punch lines thrown in for good measure.

Dr. Buck and his Wild Bunch will be performing at T.C. Thorstenson’s arena on both Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 1 and 2).

Former Hollywood stuntman Dr. Buck says the historical reenactments he and the Wild Bunch provide are a “tongue in cheek” look at Western history. Rather than firing off as many rounds as they can to excite the crowd, the Dr. Buck show is more along the lines of the Buffalo Bill Wild West shows of the past.

“Unfortunately Hollywood wasn’t very interested in Western history,” he said about how historical Western events have been portrayed in the movies. “If it was true more people would read than go to the movies.”

Dr. Buck’s Wild West show features “Hotshot” Johnny Mincks, one of the fastest rising stars in the world of Wild West showmen. He will headline the Wild Bunch entertainment along with Gary “Bad Dog” Bennett and his trick horse “Blue Eyed Jack.” A cast of other Western characters who meld humor and history are also in the show.

Dr. Buck says the Wild Bunch “shows the audience their face” by mingling with and talking to the audience throughout the show.

“There is no ‘Elvis has left the building syndrome’,” he said about the entertainers’ willingness to put on a good show by getting involved with the crowd.

The world famous “Doggies of the Wild West” segment of the Dr. Buck’s Wild Bunch show is sure to delight the crowd with their canine tricks and antics.

“It’s amazing. There are dogs jumping rope and singing,” he said about the “family friendly” tone of the show.

The Doggies of the West have performed on both Animal Planet and Jay Leno’s Tonight Show.

“They are one of the most popular acts on the fair circuit,” he said about the amazing dogs.
The Dr. Buck, the Wild Bunch and Doggies of the West acts will be interspersed with rounds of Cowboy Mounted Shooting on both Saturday and Sunday at the Thorstenson arena.
